I believe that students and teachers use technology in the classroom for many different reasons. As a student, I have always learned more in class when we are not staring into a book. Some people are more of visual learners and understand what the teacher is talking about when they have a slide show or some kind of picture. Teachers understand this and have adapted to help the student as much as possible.

The ISTE standards help students prepare for the future and make sure that the student is getting all of the information out of what they are learning. I believe I am a computational thinker. I always come up with solutions and quick equations to solve problems and to set myself up for success. The ISTE standard I am the least skilled in it would have to be "innovative designer." I am not the best at designing new problems to make problems.

I believe the younger generations, including myself, are digital natives. A digital native would be someone who was brought up around technology, whether it be having a tablet at a young age or a game boy. There is a difference between teachers and students when it comes to technology, but not every "digital immigrant" knows the same amount about technology. Some are very tech savvy and others just do not know much about technology. The same goes for students as well. Some students can do many different things on a computer, but others have trouble saving a document. I believe students in the future will know a lot more about technology than I know at my age. No one knows exactly what technology will be available in the future, but I'm sure it will be far more advanced than the technology we have now.

  1. Not every "digital immigrant" knows the same amount of technology, and not every "digital native" knows the same amount of technology. So why would you believe students in the future will definitely know a lot more than you? In addition, you may not need that much amount of knowledge of any specific technology to solve a problem.
